Odisha Government Press operates with five major units, namely, Press Proper Unit, Forms Unit, Publication Unit, Stationery Unit and School of Printing & Allied Trades.
All kinds of printing activities undertaken by Government Press are carried out in the Press Proper and Forms Units. The Forms Unit undertakes printing of all varieties of standard forms prescribed by Goverment of Odisha and printing of non-standard forms including other printing jobs are taken up in the Press Proper Unit. Storage, distribution and sale of Government publications are dealt in the Publication Unit and supply of statonery articles are done through the Stationery Unit operating in Odisha Government Press. Besides, Odisha Government Press is having a School of Printing & Allied Trades to impart training to the Apprentices on various printing trades with a view to create skilled workforce in printing technology.
Apart from these, eight numbers of Branch Presses located at different places of Odisha viz. Bhubaneswar (two), Khandapada, Chhatrapur, Bolangir, Bhawanipatna, Keonjhar and Deogarh are functioning under the control of Director, Printing, Stationery & Publication, Odisha, Cuttack.
The Press Proper Unit is the largest unit of the Directorate which undertakes printing of all varieties required by Government Departments and Offices other than the standard forms. Different printing jobs like brochures, pamphlets, visiting cards, pads, books, rules, regulations, gazettes, reports etc. are undertaken here. In order to execute such huge varieties of printing jobs, the Press Proper Unit has been highly modernised with digitally controlled pre-press, press and post-press machineries. Secretariat Branch Press, Bhubaneswar:
The Branch Press at Bhubaneswar was established with the aim to meet the printing needs of the State, Secretariat and other Government Offices located at Bhubaneswar and also to execute the printing requirement of the Odisha Legislative Assembly, Bhubaneswar. The Branch is equipped with DTP Machines, CtP, Digital Printer, Dominant Sheet-fed Offset Printing Machine, Heidelberg Multi-Colour printing machine, Fast-300, Digital Cutting Machine, Perfect Binding Machine, Plate Processor, Three knife Trimmer, Paper Folding Machine etc. The Branch usually undertakes printing works like Acts, Rules,Ordinances, Activity Reports, Bills and Annual Reports of different Government Departments and other works as entrusted from the P.P.Unit.
Rajbhawan Press, Bhubaneswar:
One printing unit has been established inside the Rajbhawan Campus at Bhubaneswar to cater to the printing needs of His Excellency, the Governor of Odisha. The press usually executes the daily engagement schedule of the Hon’ble Governor and jobs relating to Governor’s House. This Branch is equipped with one Mini Offset (Auto Print) Machine along with , Risograph, DTP Machines, Cutting and Stitching Machines, etc.
Branch Government Press, Khandapara:
This Branch Press was established in the year,1964 by the-then Chief Minister Sj. Biren Mitra in the name of Mahamohapadhyaya Chandrasekhar Singh Samanta. This Press usually undertakes different jobs like preparation of Issue Register, Receipt Register, File Board, envelopes of different sizes and other jobs as entrusted by the Main Press, Cuttack. The Press is equipped with two Kalaimani Letterpress Printing Machines, one Automatic Rekord Cutting Machine and two Stitching Machines etc.
Branch Government Press, Chhatrapur:
This Press was set up during the time of British Rule i.e. prior to the year 1940 and was functioning under the control of Collector, Ganjam. Subsequently, this Press was merged with Odisha Government Press after the independence. The Branch undertakes different scheduled jobs, entrusted by Forms Unit. The Press possesses one Letter press Kalaimani Machine, one Rekord Cutting Machine and one Stitching Machine etc.
The Forms Unit
The Forms Unit undertakes printing of about 4800 varieties of standard forms under 42 schedules to cater to as many as 6500 Indenting Offices of the State. Consequent upon increase in number of districts in the State, the demand of standard forms has substantively increased requiring printing of standard forms in a large scale. Accordingly, the Forms Unit has also been equipped with high-speed cost-effective web offset printing machines coupled with CtP and Perfect Binders etc. The submission of indent by the Indenting Officers and distribution of standard forms thereon is going to be implemented through e-submission and e-distribution systems very soon. This will facilitate the Indenting Officers to ascertain about the availability of standard forms and timely submission of indents etc.

Branch Government Press, Bolangir:
The Branch Press was established in the tenure of King Dalaganjan Deb in the year,1913 and subsequently merged with Odisha Govt. Press after independence. It usually executes the jobs like preparation of Peon Book, Personal Diary, High Court forms, OLA Debates, Issue Register, Receipt Register, Vehicle Log Book, File Board, envelopes of different sizes and other jobs as entrusted by the Press Proper Unit. The Press has got different machines like one Kalaimani Letterpress Machine, two Cutting Machines and two Stitching machines, one DTP Machine etc.
Branch Government Press, Bhawanipatna:
The Branch Press was established in the year,1981-82. The Press usually executes printing jobs under different schedules like Tenant Ledger, Log Book, Pay Bill(Inner), Service Book, Issue Register, Receipt Register, File Board, envelopes of different sizes, etc. The Branch is having one Letterpress Kalaimani Machine, two Stitching Machines and one Rekord Cutting Machine.
Branch Government Press, Keonjhar:

Branch Government Press Deogarh:
The Branch Press was established in the year 1886 and subsequently merged with the Odisha Government Press in the year 1946. This Press usually prints the jobs like Peon Book, High Court Criminal Diary, File Register, File Board, Envelopes, Daily Cause List and scheduled envelopes, etc.The Press possesses one Jobber Letterpress Machine, two Cutting Machines and two Stitching Machines.
The Publication Unit:
The Publication Unit deals with the storage, distribution and sale of Government publications, Central Government publications etc. It also deals with the despatch and distribution of Gazettes to Supreme Court, High Court, all Government Department, Heads of Departments, public and private parties. It also shoulders the responsibility of despatching OLA Debates to the designated authorities. Further, this Unit also publishes about 50,000 Numbers of Government Diaries, 3,00,000 small calendars, 1,00,000 sheet calendars, 3,000 mount calendars per annum and distributes the same to the public as well as Government Offices every year. This unit has got a vast store of 10,000 sq.ft. area where huge volume with different kinds of Government publications are stored and stacked systematically. The unit also distributes and sells the Government publications/Gazettes etc. as per the distribution mailing list of Government on payment of cost.
The School of Printing and Allied Trades(SPAT)
One School of Printing & Allied Trades has been established inside the campus of O.G.Press in the year,1955 with the aim to bring-out skilled technicians in printing trades to meet the needs of Odisha Government Press as well as other private presses of the state. In the year 1971, the School of Printing was converted to a Basic Training Centre as per the provision, laid down in section-9 of the Apprentice Act, 1961. Since then, the SPAT is imparting Training in different printing trades as well as Post-ITI Apprenticeship training to ITI NTC holders. Presently, the School Unit is imparting training in trades like Book Binding (75- two year course),Litho Offset Platemaker(08- two year course), Litho Offset Machine Minder(40- three year course), Litho Retoucher (05-three years). The Apprentices undergo practical training in different production units of the press.
Stationery Unit :
This unit was set up with the objective of centrally procuring and distributing all kinds of stationery articles to all the Government Offices of the State including Odisha High Court. But the work of the said unit has been restricted as the procurement system of stationery articles for use by all the Government Offices has been decentralised. This unit is now shouldering the responsibility for procurement and supply of stationery articles to Odisha High Court only.
